ReSkate is a free, open-source, fan-made platform for skate., the free-to-play skateboarding game from EA and Full Circle (many players still call it “Skate 4”). It lets you play the game offline, host your own lobbies and dedicated servers, and load mods such as custom maps and clothing. It runs on top of your own Steam copy of skate.: it does not replace or pirate the game.

The project’s source code is public on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license, and its first release (v1.0.0) came out on October 2, 2026. It has been updated almost daily since then.

What ReSkate adds to skate.

  • Offline play. No EA servers needed. Progress is saved on your PC and the game even runs with Steam closed.
  • Your own multiplayer. Host a Steam lobby for up to 32 players (public, by code, or with a password), or join community dedicated servers from an in-game server browser. It has proximity voice chat, text chat, parties and throwdowns. See multiplayer and servers.
  • Mods. Drop a mod into the Mods folder, or browse and install mods from the ReSkate community on Thunderstore right inside the launcher. Custom maps, cosmetics, loading screens and music are all possible. See ReSkate mods.
  • An in-game menu. Press Insert for the ReSkate menu: map and fast travel, time of day, a Park Editor, first-person and other skater options. ~ opens a command console.
  • A launcher that manages the game. It downloads the exact game build ReSkate supports (Steam build 25414733) into its own folder, so a Steam update to skate. cannot break your setup.

Guides on this site

  • Download and install: the official file, step by step, Linux and Proton.
  • Is ReSkate safe?: antivirus warnings, Steam login, crash reports.
  • Mods: installing from Thunderstore, mod profiles and a list of popular mods.
  • Multiplayer and servers: lobbies, the server browser and hosting your own dedicated server.
  • Errors and fixes: the menu won’t open, Steam download did not finish, mods not merging and more.

What ReSkate is not

ReSkate is not an official EA product, not a way to get skate. without owning it, and not a cheat. It only loads into the game when you start it from ReSkateLauncher.exe; pressing Play in your Steam library still starts the normal, online version of skate. If EA ever changes its stance on the project, we will update this page with its status and what still works.

FAQ

Is ReSkate free?

Yes. ReSkate is free and open source under the GPL-3.0 license. You still need to own skate. on Steam, because ReSkate runs on top of the game rather than replacing it.

Where do I download ReSkate?

Is ReSkate made by EA or Full Circle?

No. It is a fan project and says so in its README. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Electronic Arts or Full Circle.

Can I play skate. offline with ReSkate?

Yes. Offline play is one of its main features. Your skater, outfits, unlocks and progress are saved on your PC, and the game does not need EA's servers.

What is the current version of ReSkate?

The latest stable release we checked on October 17, 2026 is 2.0.7 (October 12). 2.1.0 is out as a pre-release test build. The launcher updates ReSkate itself, so you normally only download it once.

Does ReSkate work on Steam Deck or Mac?

Linux with Proton is supported and documented in the README. Steam Deck should work the same way but is listed as untested. There is no official macOS version; some players run it through CrossOver or Apple's Game Porting Toolkit with mixed results.

Unofficial. This page is written by an independent directory. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with Electronic Arts or Dingo Shenanigans (ReSkate contributors) (ReSkate's author). We do not host any files, and we never link to game files, ROMs or ISOs.
